Legends in Concert opened at OWA last year and is one of the most exciting and enjoyable entertainment options in the South. The show’s holiday lineup of performers starts this month, and it’s something we can all be thankful for!
“We are thrilled to launch the annual holiday version of our show in Coastal Alabama, and after a challenging 2020 for all of us, we are excited to share some good times and memories with families visiting as well as for our amazingly supportive locals,” said Brian Brigner, Chief Operating Officer of Legends in Concert. “The show will feature signature hits from the country stars that made them legendary, and holiday songs they recorded during their illustrious careers.”
Beginning Nov. 20 in Foley, Ala., A Merry Country Christmas pays tribute to some of country music’s most beloved stars. The list of amazing tribute artists includes Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire and even Elvis Presley!
The show opens with an extravaganza performance of The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s rendition of “Jingle Bells” and ends with the Legends band playing a knock-out tribute to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve in Sarajevo” (“Carol of the Bells”).
The entire cast joins in the finale fun, performing “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” together as they create new holiday memories with the audience in the OWA Theater halls.
Among standout performances are Corrie Sachs singing “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” during her impeccable portrayal of Reba McEntire, and Stacey Whitton’s “Gonna Getcha Good” during her uncanny performance as Shania Twain. Whitton also transforms into beloved country star Martina McBride, as Shawn Gerhard makes a triumphant return as Garth Brooks to the joy of his fans.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Leo Days embodies Elvis as he gently croons “Blue Christmas.”
OWA Theater’s outstanding Legends in Concert A Merry Country Christmas runs from at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 through Jan. 3, Thursday through Saturda, with additional matinee shows available at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
